Projects
DPAP selects several projects a year at different locations in the U.S.; assembles the best teachers; and invites members to participate in classes. Members work closely with teachers to execute the design plan for the space.
DPAP is looking for a new project. We welcome applications from owners of public buildings. Click here to learn more about making application to become a future project of the Decorative Painting Apprenticeship Program.

Completed Projects
PROJECT COMPLETED, SPRING 2008
Hurricane Katrina and the levee breach of August 2005 caused significant damage to the central public park of New Orleans. DPAP stepped up to help bring new life to several key structures in the park. Six instructors and 25 students from all over the U.S. worked during the project (February through May 2008) contributing an estimated $132,000 in labor. Sponsors contributed $5000 in materials.
Students learned on-the-wall techniques including: Venetian plaster, glazing, trompe l'oeil, marbling, wood graining, gilding, mural painting, and more. The buildings enhanced by DPAP include: the Casino Building, Ice Cream Parlor and Bumper Car Pavilion.
